“Our aim is to help our clients develop and implement governance systems, which are “right sized” to the shape and complexity of their organisations. We believe that simple and transparent organisational and governance models are generally most effective. At the same time we have good understanding of the importance of regulatory compliance and how an organisation needs to organise itself to both deliver and evidence this.

Our experience in working with executive and non-executive teams across the country has given us the ability to develop a multifaceted understanding of what good governance looks like, of what it should and what it should not be.

We enjoy working with our clients and aim to ensure that they feel supported in finding and implementing best governance models, which are sustainable, ensure compliance and support business strategy and development.”

Johnny Keen Senior Risk and Assurance Associate

Areas of Expertise: Risk Management - Risk Policy & Framework Design - Risk Workshops (Board and Management) - Risk Appetite - Culture and Ownership - Internal Controls - Assurance - Risk Reporting (Board and Audit Committees) - Risk Training
“People face risk daily in their private lives but can often struggle to articulate or manage risk effectively when it comes to a business context.

It is important to keep things simple, proportionate and set standards for risk owners to work to. Fostering a culture of strong accountability and honest and transparent risk reporting all help to strengthen corporate compliance.

Regulators and investors expect businesses to have a clear understanding of their principal risks, mitigations and assurances. I am passionate about helping businesses to understand where these threats may lie and how mitigating to a level acceptable for their board can also open the door to opportunity.”
Johnny spent almost two decades working in private sector audit firms. This included 15 years in the ‘Big 4’ where he specialised in internal audit delivery across a diverse client base (including housing, health and education sectors). He was then headhunted into a social housing client to shape and lead their risk management arrangements and to facilitate the executive / internal audit relationship.

Johnny now supports non-profit and private sector organisations across the UK to strengthen their risk management and assurance arrangements, working at both executive and Board level. His work ranges from providing interim support where organisations have a resourcing gap or need to strengthen risk management following a regulatory downgrade, to delivering specific risk and assurance projects. These include designing and implementing risk policies and frameworks, facilitating Board and executive risk appetite workshops, and delivering practical risk management training to help organisations embed effective risk management across their operations.
